The future of sustainable tourism in Peru
What is the profile of the sustainable tourist in the future? And what are post-COVID19-trend in Europe for the sustainable tourist sector? In a Webinar with 280 participants, organised by the Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), with the support of the Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO), these crucial factors were discussed.
The Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), with the support of the Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO) and funded by the Swiss Cooperation-SECO, carried out the webinar "Profile of the Sustainable Tourist and Post COVID trends". The event referred to the results of the research on Sustainable Tourism trends in Germany, France and Switzerland, which are important international source markets for tourists with a vision of sustainable development. The webinar had more than 280 attendees.
The webinar begun with the words of Ms. Sandra Doig (Incoming Tourism Deputy Director) where the work of SIPPO in the study development process was highlighted. Afterwards, Mr. Alain Bühlmann, Head of Economic Cooperation and Development Peru at State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) remarked the good work of PROMPERU and SIPPO in strengthening the tourism sector in the country which opens up new employment possibilities and strengthens the economic development. The introductory part of the webinar closed with the words of Ms. Marisol Acosta, PROMPERU Director of Tourism Promotion, stating the importance of sustainable tourism for the promotion of the sector.
The presentation was made by the international consultant of SIPPO Peru, Ms. Beatriz Martin. With her broad experience she presented interesting results about the profile of the sustainable tourist of the future as well as an update and trends on sustainable tourism in the context of COVID 19.
