Successful export thanks to smart import
For Switzerland, cross-border trade flows are vital to its survival. Imports are just as crucial as the export which is mentioned more often. The majority of exported products are preceded by the import of resources needed for production. In a representative survey of over 200 trading companies, “Handel Schweiz” and SIPPO have identified important import parameters.
"Handel Schweiz", the umbrella organization of Swiss trade, and SIPPO (Swiss Import Promotion Programme) wanted to know more about how procurement is handled in practice and what role sustainability plays in this. Between mid-May and mid-June this year they therefore launched a survey with the aim of identifying the current challenges and possible fields of action and of developing topics and future measures to promote imports on a stable factual basis.
Fabienne-Alexia Müller, SIPPO Programme Director, and Kaspar Engeli, Director of Trade Switzerland, explain and comment (in German) on the results of this representative survey in the Swiss Trade magazine "Procure". In the future, this survey is to be carried out annually in order to monitor the needs of Swiss importers in a more systematic manner and to gain a deeper understanding of them.
